Miss Bossy

Well we went to PC for the weekend to visit Grandma and Granddad. As soon as we stepped in the house, Rachel forgot who Jim and I were. We weren't allowed to do anything for her unless Grandma was gone. We also weren't supposed to tell her what she could or couldn't do. Now, she has been pretty bossy at home lately also, but this weekend she became very bossy. She certainly likes to put people in their places. At one point, I asked her something or was trying to tell her something. I can't even remember what it was. Needless to say, she got a stern look on her face and pointed and shook her little finger and said, "It's none of your business". I think I am already dreading the teenage years and we haven't even made it to preschool yet. Ha!

She definitely likes visiting there. When it was time to come back home, Grandma said she couldn't come and Rachel seemed okay with that. However, 2 1/2 hours or so later when we pulled in our driveway, and Rachel realized that we were at our house, she started crying and screaming. (She did this the last time also). She said she didn't want to be at our house, she wanted to be at Grandma's house. She eventually calmed down but it took awhile.

John is still fighting ear problems. We went to the doctor today and will be starting our 5th round of antibiotics. When we go back in 2 weeks, she is also going to do an ear flush/irrigation on him. It seems he has very waxy ears which prevent proper drainage. * sigh*

Before we get to the pictures, a short note. Rachel follows me and often gets into my make up drawer but never really bothers too much. Well this weekend, she was in the bathroom with Grandma while Grandma was getting her makeup on. I guess Rachel found the mascara and before mom realized it, was proceeding to put it on. After mom discovered it, she held Rachel up in the mirror to see herself and she said Rachel looked a little shocked and then said " don't tell Granddad".

Rachel and her makeup! Hey, at least she knows some goes on top of eye and some goes on the bottom. Ha!
Rachel was quite upset when at lunch time, I had John in "her" booster seat. So mom got something else for her to sit on and said she could sit with the big kids. She sat there the rest of the weekend.

Rachel opening John's valentine. He didn't really get a chance to open or see it. Rachel decided that 2 of the pieces were hers and John could get 1 piece. She then politely said "thank you John". We asked what for and she said, "he gave me these". I have a feeling when he gets bigger, it is going to get very interesting!!

Superbowl weekend

Rachel visiting with "Bullard Grandma on my cell" She is excited about getting to see her this weekend.

Over the weekend we went over to Jim's sister's house for a small get together for the superbowl. We had brisket, little smokies, rotel dip, etc. Yummy, low fattening food! Ha! Oh well, my diet starts next week. At least I better start doing something as this over 40 year old body is looking scary!

Rachel really likes talking to her Grandma's on the phone. Almost anytime someone is on the phone, she wants to talk to whomever it is. She can now distinguish who is who when we talk about her grandparents. She has Grandma Evelyn and Grandpa (Judge) and then there is Granddad and "Bullard Grandma" as she calls her. She also talks about Great Grandma Pat.

John is not crawling yet but coming closer. Since his ear infection has been gone, it is great because he has been sleeping all through the night for like a week now. However, he and his sister are both getting snotty noses again so we will see what happens.

Rachel continues to amuse us with her mannerisms and sayings. Yesterday at dinner she wanted me to get her milk. Well, I am trying to get her to work on patience and realize that she needs to wait sometimes for a minute or so, plus I was feeding John, and everyone else was eating, so I told her just a minute and I will get you some. Well obviously that wasn't going to be soon enough. So she takes her hand and puts it gently on Jim's arm and says "Daddy, will you get me some milk please"? It was too funny. She is using her feminine charms already!

Fun in the Snow!

Just a couple of pictures from our past weeks ice/snow storm. We had ice on Thursday and Friday it snowed all day long. Saturday we went out in it for a little while. John and I only stayed out long enough to take some pictures as it was too cold.

Rachel kept picking icicles off the ground and trying to eat them. She wanted to take one off the bottom of my car but luckily we were able to stop her in time.

I didn't get a picture since it happened so fast, but this past weekend, Rachel like she always does, plays house and dolls and cooks for all of us and is always bringing us pretend food and such to eat. Well she decided John needed in on it also. She got her baby doll's spoon and dish and came over to where John was sitting and started pretend feeding him. However to her, pretend eating means actually putting things in your mouth. So she proceeded to put the spoon in John's mouth twice before I realized what she was doing. Of course, he knew no different and was eagerly opening his mouth each time to try and get some food. It was pretty cute.

Jim's writing in the snow! Isn't he sweet!
Rachel hates to take naps so generally, her weekend naps consist of her falling asleep on the floor somewhere. This day she happened to lay down in the middle of the hallway and fell asleep almost instantly. We then got a pillow and blanket for her and just moved her over towards the wall. A nap on the floor is much better than no nap at all for her!

John (8 months old on this day 1/30) not sure quite what to think.
